Finances at this time of the year are usually tight for me but this year is especially bad so I have decided to not only give commissions a second try but also start selling some of my previous builds.
First I’ve re-added the commission page at the top menu and for the time being will give each build the priority over my own. Secondly I decided to sell most of my dioramas and some of my MG’s with more to follow. There are a few kits of mine though that are off the table unless the offers are to the point where I can’t ignore them.
MG Wing Zero Custom $100
MG Nu Astray $100
1/60 NG Strike Gundam $75 (stand not included)
Completed Kits: All have a caveat that they are prone to paint chipping.
HGAC Wing Gundam (Wing ver Ka scheme) $30
HGBF Gundam X Maoh (custom scheme) $30
HGAW Gundam X (least likely for paint to chip, but shield would need to be repainted) $30
HG 00 Raiser (custom scheme) $30
Stop and Smell the Roses $100
Junkyard Gundam $100
Clanche Camo $75
The prices don’t include shipping and I am open to shipping internationally. I might eventually put some of these on eBay but for now you can contact me at my email (email@example.com) or PM me at the gunpla sub reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/gunpla) where I will also be selling these in the commerce thread.
For a while now I wanted to pick up the second Gundam 00 Gundam Weapons and once I saw a few scans of the new Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby with their Hi Nu ver Ka builds I thought this was the chance to get all three. While the monthly magazines impressed with their Hi Nu’s and even a Nightingale what disappointed me was the Gundam Weapons and that’s what brings me to the titular question of this post, should I do a review of a Gundam Weapons or any other big gunpla book whenever I get one?
There are a few full scans out there on the internet but for the most part that has dried up to the extent that a new one hasn’t been released in over a year. Now I am not talking about scanning the entire book or anything but instead similar to the way rokkustudio reviews various Gundam Wing related gunpla books giving others an overview on what the book covers with some scans here and there.
There is really a lack of information for non-Japanese reading gunpla fans out on the web when it comes to what to expect in these big and expensive books. For example when it came to this Gundam 00 Gundam Weapons I expected it to be filled with various builds of the main 4 second season suits from the show and while it starts off like that about half of the book is dedicated to antagonist grunt suits and such. Even with the Char’s Counter Attack Gundam Weapons I bought not to long ago I was basically buying it blind with no knowledge of any of the builds inside.
Considering how much rokkustudio’s reviews helped me decide if and which specific Gundam Wing Gundam Weapons I wanted to buy I thought doing this might help someone else.
For the most part I stuck to the out of box colors but had to change the sword and cannon from the dark green and lilac as I just never bought their strange color choices. Surprisingly unlike the Strike Freedom the modifications I made to this kit didn’t alter its stability at all so I was able to fully realize all the poses I wanted to do.
The wings of light really make this kit shine and I can’t imagine buying it without them.
It took a long time but I finally got everything needed to finish this kit. I don’t know why but even with all the problems I had from replacing parts to the gold paint I used the experience was enjoyable all through out. I did have some problems posing this kit without using a stand after the modifications I made to it but considering how back heavy it is I already expected as such.
I was already warming up to the Strike Freedom design after completely dismissing it years ago but this kit has made me consider getting the PG sometime in the future.
I managed to take all the shots I needed with as little chipping as possible and while I am pretty happy with how everything turned out I want the MG Gundam X so I can finally have a X model that doesn’t have primer issues.
